The Jackson School has partnered with the Department of Political Science, Law, Society and Justice, and the Department of Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies to offer a Writing Center!
The Writing Center’s mission is to provide peer-to-peer writing services guided by a student-centered approach to social science writing. Whether you are just starting your first college paper or are a seasoned writer looking to refine your skills, we are eager to help you achieve your writing goals.
What Does the Writing Center Do?
- The Writing Center assists at all points of the writing process – from brainstorming to the final draft – so that your written work clearly and effectively communicates your ideas.
- The Writing Center can help you write strong thesis statements, make persuasive arguments, use evidence to support your claims, use proper citation practices, understand the expectations of your assignment, and learn disciplinary writing norms.
- The Writing Center can also provide feedback about major applications, cover letters, internship applications, fellowship applications; etc.
Who can use the Writing Center?
Any student taking a class listed in or cross-listed with Political Science, Jackson School, Law, Societies & Justice or Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies or is majoring (or an intended major) in any of these programs. This includes writers of all abilities, English language learners, and graduate students.
