JSIS Graduate Checklist for Convocation
In Spring Quarter:
- Apply to graduate:
- Undergraduate – apply to graduate in the summer quarter by Friday, April 12, 2024.
- Master’s – submit your master’s degree request for spring quarter graduation by June 7, 2024.
- Doctoral – submit your dissertation to the graduate school for spring quarter graduation by June 7, 2024.
The name on the diploma will appear as it does on the MyUW website. To change your address or the spelling/appearance of your name on your diploma, refer to the information on the Office of the Registrar’s website.
Before April 15, 2024:
- RSVP for Convocation via the RSVP form emailed to you.*
- *The RSVP includes an option to opt out if you do not want your name to be published in the program that will be both distributed at Convocation and available on the JSIS website. All graduating student names will be published in the program except for students who specifically opt out.
Before May 1, 2024:
- E-mail isconvo@uw.edu if you need to make adjustments to the number of tickets you selected when you completed your RSVP.
- E-mail isconvo@uw.edu if you need to submit new requests or changes regarding disability accommodations for you or your guests for the event.
Before June 8, 2024:
- Visit our Convocation Planning page to view information on transportation to Convocation and health and safety guidance.
- Purchase or rent a Cap & Gown – the same cap and gown suggested for UW Commencement is also suggested for JSIS Convocation.
- Master’s Students: If you choose to wear a cap and gown, a white Master’s Hood is also suggested. Learn more about graduation colors here: http://www.washington.edu/graduation/graduation-colors/
- Ph.D. Students: For Doctor of Philosophy, the purple doctoral robes, tam, gold tassel, and Ph.D. hood should be worn. Doctoral attire can be purchased or rented here: http://www.washington.edu/graduation/cap-gown/.
