Actionable insights from tomorrow's leaders

Since 2009, the University of Washington’s Global Research Group (GRG) has connected the innovation mindset of the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies top achieving students with private and public sector organizations seeking impactful, globally-minded analyses to support their strategic and operational objectives.

GRGs are faculty-supervised teams of graduates and undergraduates selected for their geographic area expertise and knowledge of global affairs topics, as well as top-tier research and communication skill sets.

Past GRG teams have worked for Microsoft, Starbucks, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and many others. As part of the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies International Policy Institute, the GRG and its consultants seek to improve the transfer of research and expertise between higher education, the private sector, and the policy world.

About the Global Research Group

Since the program’s launch in 2009, over 150 students have been trained as GRG consultants and completed projects that crystallized complex data in actionable insights for a wide variety of organizations including Starbucks, Microsoft, Global Washington, williamsworks, Construction for Change, Rohingya Project, The United Nations, and The Tableau Foundation. With research topics ranging from cybersecurity policy to the advancement of human rights, the GRG prepares students to be leaders through hands-on experiences that connect theory with practice in direct and impactful ways.
