Let’s Learn Urdu!

Urdu for High School Students | Summer 2024

In this 2-week workshop, students will learn basic written and spoken Urdu, one of the major languages of the South Asian subcontinent. Classes will include reading, writing, listening, and speaking exercises; collaborative projects; and experiential learning through South Asian games and activities. All class meetings will be held online via Zoom video conference.

Intended for current high school students (aged 14-18), Urdu Summer Camp is ideal for both heritage speakers and new learners – no previous Urdu language experience required!

Instructor: Jameel Ahmad, Associate Teaching Professor, Asian Languages & Literature, University of Washington

Schedule: July 8-19, 2024, Monday-Friday, 3:00-5:00pm PT

Format: Online via Zoom

Registration fee: $150 per participant or $200 per family (up to three participating children from the same household)

Application deadline: June 21, 2024

Enrollment is limited to 25 students. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by email.
