About
Support South Asian Studies
We Welcome Your Support
The Center welcomes support from community partners, individuals, and other organizations who wish to promote the study of South Asia. These include fellowships for students as well as support for the work of the Center.
To donate, please visit the University of Washington Foundation Page and support UW students working on South Asia and the work of the South Asia Center. Details on our various funds are below.
Friends of South Asia
The South Asia Center relies exclusively on community support for many of our activities including the sponsorship of current affairs events, the hosting of Distinguished Visitors, and musical and artistic gatherings. The Friends of South Asia fund supports these activities.
The 2015 “Voices of Partition” and visits by Gurcharan Das, Shyam Benegal and Hon. APJ Abdul Kalam were partially supported by community donations to the Friends of South Asia fund.
Student Fellowships
The South Asia Studies Student Fund supports undergraduate and graduate students in South Asian Studies to carry out field research, attend conferences, and bring speakers to campus.
Our student fellowships include the Frank F. Conlon Fellowship in South Asian Studies, which helps any graduate student working on South Asia who qualifies for financial aid to pursue their studies. Visit the Student Funding page for more information on the Conlon Fellowship.
We also award the India Association of Western Washington Fellowship to one undergraduate student and one graduate student annually. These awards go to outstanding students with a demonstrated interest in the study of South Asia. Visit the Student Funding page for more information on the IAWW Fellowship.
You may donate to any or all of these funds at the University of Washington Foundation Page. All donations are tax deductible. The South Asia Center, the University of Washington, and our students thank you.
