Vishnupriya Goswami
About
Vishnupriya Goswami is an MA student in the Asian Languages and Literature department. Vishnupriya’s research interest is to explore the social and cultural dynamics of Braj, particularly the impact of modernisation and commercialisation on its enduring heritage, with a focus on its literature (Hindi and Brajbhasha). She has done intensive work in Raslila (the traditional theatre of Braj) under INTACH (Indian National Trust for Cultural Heritage).
Vishnupriya is also an Indian classical (Odissi) dancer. She secured her Visharad degree (equivalent to BA) from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and is a graded artiste of Doordarshan (autonomous public service broadcaster). Her dance practice seamlessly intertwines with her academic pursuits, enabling her to articulate the cultural narratives of Braj through expressive artistry. She is also an adept workshop and museum walk leader, competent in illuminating the nuances of Odissi dance and Braj’s cultural heritage to diverse audiences.
