Sarah studies the campaign for female doctors that opened the profession to women in nineteenth century Britain. Specifically, her dissertation focuses upon the ways in which one female medical student strategically utilized the periodical press to shape not only the rhetoric of the medical women’s movement but also the material effects of the campaign itself.
