About
Omair is an MA student in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Washington. The MA is fully funded through teaching assistantships, making it one of the few non-fee based media studies programs in the United States.
He is an archivist, photographer, and non-fiction writer/editor. His research interests lie in new and legacy media artifacts, piracy networks, digital cultures, and media archives of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. His undergraduate thesis researched Karachi’s pirated video game markets, piracy methods, and their relation to gamers and local gaming cultures. His work has been featured in Wasafiri.
