Kaya Mallick

South Asia Center FLAS Fellow, Academic Year 2022-23 and 2023-24 (Hindi)

Kaya Mallick is an MA student and a FLAS Fellow in South Asia Studies. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in playwriting from Ohio University in 2020, which inspired her to shift towards studies of gender and cultural anthropology. Her research focuses on Hindu women’s ritual performances, especially as they pertain to yoga and other ascetic practices.

Kaya is also an avid practitioner and instructor of modern postural yoga. She offers vinyasa and Yin style classes at a local studio. Through her own practice and research, she strives towards the decolonization of yoga.
