About

Jonathan Laiman is a Master’s student at the Department of Asian Languages & Literature specializing in Buddhist Studies. He is interested in studying Buddhist literature in their primary languages, such as Pali, Sanskrit, and Chinese. He also studies the history of Indian Buddhism, from its origin, decline, and spreading to China as a Mahayana Buddhism. Before coming to UW, he studied philosophy and religious studies at the University of Houston to build a foundation for his future academic study.
