Sweating Saris

Sweating Saris is an interactive multimedia dance performance based on the book Sweating Saris: Indian Dance as Transnational Labor by artist & scholar Dr. Priya Srinivasan. It explores the ways that performance as research can come alive from page to stage. Choreographed by Dr. Priya Srinivasan & Ramya Harishankar, and performed on April 27th, 2018 at the University of Washington’s Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Theatre, Sweating Sari’s delighted those with a love of dance, multimedia arts, Asian American/American Ethnic Studies, and South Asia scholarship. The performance was followed by a panel discussion with artists and scholars from two University of Washington campuses and the Seattle area performing arts organization, Arpan Arts.
