On Thursday, May 7, the Block Museum at Northwestern University held a virtual screening of the 1971 film Badnam Basti, followed by a Q&A with Professor Sudhir Mahadevan (UW Cinema & Media Studies) and Simran Bhalla (Ph.D. candidate, Screen Cultures, Northwestern University). Badnam Basti, considered one of the first LGBTQ films in Indian cinema, was long thought to be lost.
