EVENT RECAP| Meeta Pradhan Colloquium

June 10, 2022

On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Dr. Meeta Pradhan of the Institute for Social and Environmental Research–Nepal and Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies delivered a lecture on her experience with the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion approach, which is a unique product of Nepal aimed at addressing the multi-dimensional forms of exclusion and poverty in Nepal. Her talk addressed how working with Nepali census data of the last decades has demonstrated the widespread marginalization and discrimination faced by segments of the country’s population, as well as the various ways that these inequalities have been addressed in recent years, and their varying degrees of success. In particular, Dr. Pradhan stressed how this data might be used in future to better understand and combat these social, political, socio-cultural, and geographical discriminations.
