Student Travel Grants

2026-27 Student Research and Travel Grants

The South Asia Center is pleased to announce a call for applications for South Asia Studies Student Fund Research Materials and Conference Travel Grants.

Small grants will be awarded to fund the purchase of conference travel and registration fees, materials, supplies, and/or services in support of research or study related to South Asia during the 2026-27 academic year. Please note that the Autumn 2026 competition will prioritize scholarly activities occurring between September and December 2026 (e.g., the Annual Conference on South Asia). An additional application round will open during the Spring 2027 quarter.

Eligible proposals may include (but are not limited to): travel to conferences, in-person or online conference registration fees, software, computer accessories, books, e-books (especially those not available at UW Libraries), hard drives, cloud services, library services, webcams, print and copy services, etc.

Eligibility: Open to University of Washington graduate students with affiliation to the South Asia Center who are currently enrolled full time in a graduate program.

Award amount: $250 each

Application deadline: Tuesday, September 15, 2026 (applicants will be notified by September 25 and grant funds will be disbursed in early October)
