The West Coast Model European Union is an annual simulation of a European Council summit, bringing together undergraduate students from across the United States and Canada. Students, in teams of two, play the roles of representatives of European Union Member State delegations. Participants negotiate two issues of concern for the country holding the Presidency.

Topics for the 2026 Model EU in brief:

  • Heads of Government
    • HoG 1 – EU Alignment on Military Procurement – Creating an office to enforce alignment of procurement contracts.

    • HoG 2 – Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia Accelleration – Offering these countries accelerated integration towards rapid accession.

  • Economy Ministers
    • Economy 1 – Rare Earths Access Project – Creating both an exploration and access project for rare earths in the Arctic regions of EU member states, and creating an EU Strategic Materials Reserve.

    • Economy 2 – Digital Markets Act Enhancement – Creating new authority for the EU to rapidly and decisively regulate and mitigate impacts of large digital platforms.
