Students take selfies with Manneken Pis in Brussels, Belgium
The Center for European Studies and the EU Center strive to create an academic environment conducive to our students’ success. In order to achieve this end, the Centers support the European Studies Major and Minor Program, housed in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, and provide supplementary academic and professional opportunities for University of Washington undergraduate and graduate students.
The Centers encourage students interested in European and/or transatlantic affairs to consider majoring or minoring in European Studies. The purpose of the curriculum in European Studies is to help prepare students to pursue careers requiring an understanding of all the forces, both material and cultural, contemporary and historical, that are shaping Europe today.
In addition to its major and minor, the Centers offer funding opportunities, study abroad programs, a database of Europe-focused internships, and the Trans-Atlantic Studies Program. We greatly encourage students from the European Studies program and other disciplines to look into these opportunities, especially those which offer funding!
