Jackson School Professor Sara Curran, who also serves as the director of the Center for Studies in Demography & Ecology, has been recognized for scientific achievement and willingness to work on behalf of the academy for the benefit of Washington state.
She is one of 29 who have been elected as members in 2023 to the Washington State Academy of Sciences. The official announcement was made on July 17, 2023.
Curran was named “for groundbreaking work in demography and the sociology of migration, taking a multi-faceted approach that illuminates the dynamic interplay between demographic conditions and factors such as gender, socio-economic context, and climate change.”
She also serves as Associate Vice Provost for Research at the University of Washington. The induction of new members will be at the 16th Annual Members Meeting in Spokane, Washington on September 13, 2023.
