Denis Bašić is an Affiliate Lecturer at the Jackson School of International Studies. He obtained a double B.A. in Arabic Language and Literature and Turkish language and literature from Sarajevo University in his native Bosnia and Herzegovina. He then went on to study at Vienna University where he obtained a M.A. in Turkic and Islamic Studies and completed his interdisciplinary Ph.D in Near and Middle Eastern Studies at the UW. He now teaches international relations, history, and political science courses at the UW, HCC, and CWU. Bašić has also worked in international diplomacy and human rights and is interested in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, European history in the 19th and 20th centuries, nationalism and conflict resolution, as well as the general history of Islamic Civilization.
