October 2017 | Featured Student – Calli Plenert

October 2, 2017

Calli Plenert is a senior in the Jackson School for International Studies and is pursuing the International Communication Track. She also has a double minor in European Studies and Spanish. For the past 6 months Calli has been studying Spanish language and culture in Granada, Spain. While abroad, she lived with 16 other students from across the E.U. Calli recalls that, “Together we tried to learn as much as we could about Spanish culture. We went out for nightly tapas and tinto de verano, became jamón aficionados and spent the weekends exploring the Sierra Nevada mountains or finding new hidden beaches”.

After completing her study abroad program, Calli feels she has come away with a better understanding of European relations and of Spanish language and culture. “It was extremely rewarding to finally put everything I’ve learned to the test”, she reminisces. “My time abroad was indescribable, and something that I will cherish forever”.
