“Learning knows no boundaries” is the motto I found during my academic career in European Studies. As a student, I was very fortunate to receive an excellent education in the fields of language, politics, and culture from knowledgeable professors. More importantly, the program is unique in the sense that classroom learning accounts for only half of the journey, and the other half lies in the ability to meet and network with various professionals of different backgrounds.
My highlights during these four years include meeting and speaking with foreign diplomats and ambassadors from more than 15 different countries. I also had the chance to study diplomacy and international relations in Geneva, Switzerland during the fall quarter of junior year. In addition, the most important skill I have learned is the ability to critically analyze situations and/or personal interactions from several different perspectives then offer a pragmatic yet sensible solution.
After graduation, I plan on joining the Peace Corps in Lesotho and offer my service in the field of youth education and development. Ultimately, my goal is to join the ranks of the foreign service and represent the United States abroad.
