Juan Gonzalez is a graduating senior in the Jackson School of International Studies. He is graduating with a degree in International Studies and a minor in European Studies. Originally from El Salvador, Juan has lived in Seattle for the past 9 years. His passion for Europe and world affairs was sparked by his fond appreciation of European history. “After taking certain classes about Europe I decided what I wanted to do – study Europe and its complicated past and present”. In his spare time, Juan enjoys playing and coaching soccer. “Soccer has always been a passion of mine, no matter if I’m playing, watching, or coaching.”

This past winter, Juan participated in the Jackson School Task Force in Rome where graduating seniors work on important international issues through rigorous coursework in a wide variety of cross-disciplinary settings. Juan recounts how the, “opportunity to do my task force in Rome, Italy was the best experience I’ve had in college. From exploring the Italian capital to critically analyzing EU policy, I never had a dull moment”. Upon graduating Juan wishes to pursue a career in foreign service with the end goal of being stationed in Europe.
