The Politics Of International Nuclear Security: Weapons, Energy And Environment

This course examines the choices nation states make in regards to military alliances in Eurasia, as well as the region’s nuclear weapons arsenals, nuclear energy use, and arms control treaties. Additionally, the class will survey global and regional Eurasian non-proliferation regimes in the context of Eurasian military-political conflicts, Cold War nuclear arms race; nuclear non-proliferation treaties, and nuclear weapons free zones. Lastly, the course explores comparisons of fissile and fossil fuels, climate change, economic development, energy security, and terrorist threats.
