In a video interview that aired on Jan. 24 on Taiwan-based TaiwanPlus news streaming service, James Lin, assistant professor of international studies and an expert on Taiwan, discusses why the legacy of Taiwan’s former president, Chiang Ching-kuo, is so contested.

Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen is currently facing a political backlash within her own party after attending the opening of a cultural park and library dedicated to Chiang Ching-kuo.
