Clark Sorensen Quoted in Brazilian Newspaper on Inequality in South Korea

On October 10, 2021, chair of Korea Studies, Clark Sorensen is quoted in a Portuguese language article on “‘Round 6’ success sheds light on inequality and hopelessness in South Korea: Reflections of the 1990s crisis turn the country into “Korea from Hell” for part of the population” published in the Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paolo.

The article mentions the highly competitive and dystopian movies and games coming out of South Korea and links current inequality stemming from neoliberal reforms introduced during the 1997 currency crisis. Clark’s quote is about competitiveness in the education system and the feeling that there are not enough good jobs to go around.
