Abby E. Murray

Abby E. Murray (she/they) has been teaching rhetoric in military strategy for Army War College fellows at the University of Washington since 2016. Her first book, Hail and Farewell, won the Perugia Press Poetry Prize and was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award. She served as poet laureate for the city of Tacoma from 2019-2021, and she continues to offer free writing workshops to a variety of communities around the country, especially those that include veterans, military families, and the historically marginalized. She is the founding editor of Collateral, an online literary journal publishing work concerned with the impact of violent conflict beyond the combat zone.
