“Ukiuqta’qtumi Hivuniptingnun: One Arctic, One Future,” written by Nadine Fabbi, Canadian Studies Managing Director; Jason Young, former Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellow in Inuktitut; and Eric Finke, independent scholar, was recently published in the book One Arctic: The Arctic Council and Circumpolar Governance (2017). The chapter and book are an outcomes of a two-day workshop held at the Wilson Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. in spring 2016, sponsored by several Title VI Centers in the Jackson School of International Studies, the Jackson School’s International Policy Institute, and Trent University.
The book, co-edited by 2015–16 UW Canada Fulbright Chair in Arctic Studies Heather Nicol, Whitney Lackenbauer, and Wilfrid Greaves, is the outcome of the two-day conference One Arctic? The United States and the Arctic Council. The conference was funded by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada; the Jackson School’s International Policy Institute (with funding from the Carnegie Corporation of New York); five U.S. Department of Education Title VI Centers including the Canadian Studies Center, Center for Global Studies, Ellison Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies, the Center for West European Studies, and the East Asia Center; and the Title VI Center in the Michael G. Foster School of Business, the Global Business Center.
