South Asia FLAS fellow Jessica Bachman: “India’s Missing art project offers stark reminder of girls taken into sexual slavery-in pictures.”

South Asia FLAS fellow Jessica Bachman, a PhD student in History, is studying Bengali at the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) in Kolkata this summer.  She had a photo article published in The Guardian, “India’s Missing art project offers stark reminder of girls taken into sexual slavery–in pictures”

FLAS Fellowships are funded by the International and Foreign Language Education office of the U.S. Department of Education.  FLAS fellowships support undergraduate, graduate and professional students in acquiring modern foreign languages and area or international studies competencies.   Students from all UW departments and professional schools are encouraged to apply.  Find out more about the FLAS Fellowship here.
