Jackson School Sephardic Studies Chair Devin E. Naar delves into the history of Jews in Greece in a recent article “Greek Jewry and the Holocaust” in the Jerusalem Post. He explains the vast majority of Jews in Greece lived in Saloniki, which became a major port city in the 19th and 20th century.
“The Jewish community of Saloniki was one of the largest, culturally and intellectually diverse prosperous Jewish communities in modern times,” Naar said.
