Hayes recently reflected on her time as a student of the Jackson School and the resources that contributed to her success. Here’s what she had to say:

Which Jackson School courses have made an impact on your academic journey?

The Jackson School courses that have made the biggest impact on my academic journey have been LSJ 320 International Human Rights and LSJ 326 Migrant Justice. LSJ 326 was a project-based class that helped me make a measurable impact on my community in Seattle.

Who has provided critical guidance or positive influence on your development?

Sabrina Tatta has been instrumental to my development as a student. She has been a positive light during my time at UW! Her devotion to her advisees is so amazing and I am so thankful for her continued support.

What Jackson School resources would you recommend for students?

I would recommend the Jackson School’s writing center to any JSIS students. JSIS classes can be very writing intensive and all the support from the writing center goes a long way!

What connections have you made during your time at UW or in your community that have broadened your perspectives or shaped your worldview?

In my time at the UW, I participated in a study abroad program in Rome! I learned so much in my time there, I am so thankful for my professors and the friends I made!

What’s next for you?

I will be teaching in Denver for the next few years. After that I will be going to law school!
