Daniel Bessner named as finalist for Washington Monthly book reviewing prize

Daniel Bessner, The Anne H. H. and Kenneth B. Pyle Associate Professor in American Foreign Policy, was selected as a finalist for the 2024 Kukula Award, The Washington Monthly’s annual award celebrates the best in nonfiction book reviewing.

Bessner was named a finalist in the small publication category for his article in The Nation “for his erudite review of Liberalism and Its Discontents (Farrar, Straus and Giroux) by Francis Fukuyama.”

According to the Washington Monthly, it is the only journalism prize dedicated to highlighting and encouraging exemplary reviews of serious, public affairs-focused books.
