Lecturer Scott Montgomery and Alumnus Michael Walstrom (MAIS, South Asia, 2017) author several articles on “Global Energy Today: The Asian Nexus” in November and December 2017, published by the Seattle Times Newspapers in Education program with the Jackson School.
This partnership program, involving Jackson School academics and our Asia-related centers, promotes K-12 teaching of global issues on Asia. The articles each year form the basis of a curriculum guide and workshop on the same topic.

Since 2006, the Center for Global Studies, East Asia Center, East Asia Resource Center, Ellison Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies, South Asia Center and Southeast Asia Center in the Jackson School of International Studies have collaborated with the Seattle Times Newspapers in Education (NIE) Program to produce an annual series of articles, a teaching guide and a teacher workshop.
