Patricia Burleson

Patricia Burleson taught grades K-12 for over 30 years and has been an NCTA seminar leader since its beginning in 1998. She is a former president of the Washington State Council for the Social Studies and a three-time alumna of the Washington Hyogo Teacher Institute, a three-week study tour for educators to Washington’s sister prefecture of Hyogo and other parts of Japan. She has also traveled to Japan over 25 times as the lead organizer of a Freeman-funded project that provides study tours to Japan for teachers and students from Lopez Island and Orcas Island School Districts. In 2003, Ms. Burleson received the national Elgin Heinz Outstanding Teacher from the United States-Japan Foundation and the World Educator Award from the World Affairs Council in Seattle.
