Washington D.C. Spring Break Trip

Join Professors Stephen Meyers and Jessica Beyer during the Jackson School’s annual spring break trip in Washington D.C. to learn about the foreign policymaking process, connect with internships and early career opportunities, and network with UW alumni and others working in the nation’s capital.

On the past trip we met with representatives from:

  • Washington State Congressional delegation
  • Department of Defense / The Pentagon
  • World Bank
  • International NGOs, research institutes, and think tanks
  • UW Alumni and others

Throughout the visit, we look at a variety of themes ranging from security and defense, human rights, international development, energy policy, environmental issues, and trade. We also meet with people in government agencies, international organizations, and others to discuss opportunities for students and recent graduates to gain experience in Washington D.C.

The program is for undergraduates and priority is given to Jackson School majors/minors who are juniors or seniors. Transfer students and students who were Running Start who are in their first or second year at UW but who have junior/senior standing are included in this category.

Program Dates: March 22 – March 28, 2026 (UW 2026 Spring Break Week)

Program cost (which covers housing, meals, & transportation in DC) is $750. Students are responsible for their own plane tickets separate from this program cost.
