Madeleine Kopf-Patterson

Madeleine Kopf-Patterson is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Washington, Seattle campus. She is currently studying Environmental Science with minors in Marine Biology, Quantitative Science, and Political Science. She grew up in Seattle loving the outdoors and knew early on what she wanted to pursue. Madeleine is a member of the 2020 NOAA Hollings Scholarship Program and has worked as a NASA Earth intern using GIS and remote sensing to model manatee population distribution off the coast of Belize. She is interested in the intersection of policy and marine conservation as well as applications of GIS and remote sensing for large-scale conservation projects. Madeleine is passionate about raising awareness for conservation and increasing the role local communities play in conservation policy creation.
