About
Jonathan Fincher (he/him) is the Senior Academic Counselor at the University of Washington Jackson School of International Studies (UW JSIS) Office of Academic Services (OAS).
Here at JSIS OAS… I help students navigate their academic journey and am available to all current and prospective undergraduate UW students as a resource to assist them with the JSIS majors and minors. Students should come see me to get general advising questions answered, assistance with navigating the degree audit, discussion of offered courses, review of policies and procedures in JSIS majors such as world language requirements and capstone options, departmental honors, and discussion of internship opportunities.
I like thinking about and studying… I love all fine arts! I have a love of music and was in the university orchestra as a college student. I am learning piano and keeping up with viola, which I started playing in 4th grade. I enjoy spending time in museums and learning about culture, history, and all forms of artistic expression. I also love geography and classic literature.
My first year in college… was a huge milestone in my life! I loved setting my own schedule and learning how to motivate myself to accomplish my learning goals. No challenge worth accomplishing is easy and there were plenty of setbacks and roadblocks along the way, but my first year in college allowed me to fully realize my love of learning, as well as my passion for critical thinking and self-growth.
