Jeff Hovenier

Ambassador (ret.) Jeffrey M. Hovenier retired from the Department of State in 2024 after more than 34 years in public service representing the United States in Europe and Latin America. His senior positions included Ambassador to Kosovo, Chargé d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission in Türkiye, and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counselor for Political Affairs in Germany. He also served in Peru, Greece, Croatia, Paraguay, Panama, and at the U.S. Mission to the OSCE. In Washington, he served at the National Security Council and in the Department of State’s European Bureau. He is currently a non-resident Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council.
