About
Jaime Fitch (she/her) is the Director of Academic Services at the University of Washington Jackson School of International Studies (UW JSIS) Office of Academic Services (OAS).
Here’s how to say her name.
Here at JSIS OAS, … I oversee academic services at the Jackson School as the Academic Services Director. I focus especially on working with students, staff, and faculty in JSIS and partners on and off campus to work towards improving curriculum, courses, advising, alum, career, and other academic services at the Jackson School to serve as many students as possible in the past and present.
I like thinking about and studying… I love learning new things about education, traveling, and planning fun trips around the Pacific Northwest with my family. I enjoy reading books that give me insight into how to be more present and navigate the ups and downs of parenting. When it comes to reading fictional books, I’m into fantasy, mysteries, science fiction, and historical fiction.
My first year in college… was filled with determination and passion. I was on a mission to prove myself, and I was determined to transfer to the University of Washington. I poured my heart and soul into my studies, working tirelessly to achieve the best grades possible. After two years of hard work at another university, my dream finally came true – I successfully transferred to the University of Washington. I still recall one of the most valuable lessons I learned during this journey was the importance of keeping copies of all course syllabi. It was daunting to contact multiple faculty members to track down course documents for transfer credits. I really wanted to make sure some of my hard work in those first two years would count at UW for credit. I remember feeling so happy when I received some of my transfer credits.
Fun facts:
- I had the opportunity to live abroad for six unforgettable years, visiting Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Myanmar. I spent most of my time in Thailand working at bilingual schools and as a professional scuba diver.
- Back in my college days at UW, I served as a Husky Winter Sports Snowboard Instructor. Now, my own children are part of the same program as students, learning to ski at The Summit at Snoqualmie.
