Daniel Merino (He/Him/His) is a PhD Student at the Jackson School of International Studies working on space policy. His research is focused on lunar settlement efforts, specifically looking at space resource limitations and competition between the U.S. and China. Before coming to the Jackson School, Daniel worked as an editor at The Conversation where he covered space, astronomy, physics and science policy. He was also a co-host of The Conversation Weekly podcast.

Daniel holds an M.S. in Science Journalism from Boston University (2019) and a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz (2014).
