The Arctic Initiative at UW
The Arctic Initiative at the University of Washington
The Arctic Initiative is a tri-campus wide effort to promote and support teaching, research and outreach on the Circumpolar North, its peoples and the environment. The initiative includes a minor in Arctic Studies, a biennial Task Force for upper-division undergraduate students, the Fulbright Canada Chair in Arctic Studies, the Arctic and International Relations publication and video series, Foreign Language and Area Studies fellowships in Inuktut (the Inuit language), membership status with University of the Arctic, and coordination and collaboration of Arctic-focused events at UW, and a quarterly community-building meeting for students, faculty, and staff invested in Arctic studies.
