UW Stroum Center Director selected as president of Jewish Studies Association

Noam Pianko, Director of the Samuel and Althea Stroum Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Washington, was recently selected as the president of the Association of Jewish Studies, the professional organization representing Jewish Studies scholars worldwide.

Pianko is the Samuel N. Stroum Chair of Jewish Studies and also serves as the Herbert and Lucy Pruzan Professor of Jewish Studies. He received his Ph.D. in Religious Studies/Judaic Studies from Yale University in 2004 and joined the faculty at the UW’s Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies in the fall of 2004.
