In the run-up to the Winter Olympics in South Korea, Jackson School Professor and Director of the Center for Korea Studies Clark Sorensen is quoted in an article on the use of Korean pop performances as a cultural vehicle during the games. Professor Sorensen comments on the ubiquity of K-pop in the study of Korea today, pointing out that he included material on the topic in his classes when he realized students were interested in Korea because they were interested in Korean pop.
