In her new book entitled “Citizens of Scandal: Journalism, Secrecy, and the Politics of Reckoning in Mexico” published by Duke University Press, on Oct. 16, 2020, Jackson School Assistant Professor Vanessa Freije explores the causes and consequences of political scandals in Mexico from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Freije has appeared in media as a commentator on Mexico’s elections and has published articles on information politics in Latin America. Her research has won awards from the Latin American Studies Association, the American Journalism Historians Association, and the Rocky Mountain Council on Latin American Studies. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in History from Duke University.
