Liora Halperin, a professor at the Jackson School of International Studies and Department of History, has been selected as one of two inaugural Lynda and Stewart Resnick fellows at the National Library of Israel. The fellowship, which received more than 60 applications from 18 countries, supports a period of in-person research at the library in Summer 2024, as well as remote support for digitization of materials.
Halperin will be working with archival collections related to her research about the diverse Jewish communities who lived in Palestine prior to the founding of the Zionist movement and the ways that their descendants commemorated and made sense of these histories over the course of the twentieth century. The new National Library of Israel campus in Jerusalem opened in 2023.
