In recent years, people’s access to credible information has come under threat from a number of factors, including government crackdowns on journalists, the dissemination of propaganda, the rise of social media as a source of news, and public willingness to believe misinformation. This Task Force will analyze the entities that are responsible for the spread of misinformation, and advise the U.S. government, private sector, and international bodies on steps that can be taken to hold those actors accountable.
