Jackson School Professor Emeritus Don Hellmann believes that a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump is unlikely to persuade Kim Jong Un give up nuclear weapons. In an interview with King 5 News he says that the meeting in fact advances Kim Jong Un’s strategy – that of legitimizing North Korea as an independent nuclear state.
He also highlights how the Jackson School’s undergraduate Task Force program this year focused on the North Korean nuclear crisis, which included an evaluation of the research and policy recommendations by Lt. General Stephen R. Lanza.
