Global Studies Center FLAS fellow Henry Milander, an undergraduate student in Business, won ‘Honorable Mention’ in the Foster School of Business Study Abroad Photo Contest with his photo from Al-Karak, Jordan. Henry studied Arabic at the Qasid Institute in Amman, Jordan during Summer 2015. He writes, “The language gains, the reality of what you read only in the news, the relationships with locals and colleagues, and a greater understanding of how my studies will help me in working in the country I was in all have impacted by career goals.”
FLAS Fellowships are funded by the International and Foreign Language Education office of the U.S. Department of Education. FLAS fellowships support undergraduate, graduate and professional students in acquiring modern foreign languages and area or international studies competencies. Students from all UW departments and professional schools are encouraged to apply. Find out more about the FLAS Fellowship here.
