From the military to MAAIS

April 9, 2018

MAAIS Candidate Tom Lorenson
U.S. Army Captain Tom Lorenson, MAAIS Class of 2018, with his classmates during a media training.

“The thing I love the most are my peers here,” says U.S. Army Captain Tom Lorenson, who is part of the M.A. in Applied International Studies program. “I am in awe of what the guy from Boeing or someone who used to work at Microsoft brings to the classroom.”

Lorenson, who is undertaking the 10-month option of our executive education degree in international affairs and will graduate in 2018, hopes to work at the strategic planning level. “I think you get a deeper level of education here [in the MAAIS program] than you would if you just show up and get lectured at,” he notes.

Watch MAAIS Candidate Lorenson’s testimonial video to find out more about why he chose the MAAIS program at the Jackson School.

The deadline is June 1, 2018 for an autumn 2018 start, either for the 10-month or two-year part time options. Applications are on a rolling, space-available admissions.
