Want a primer on politics in the Middle East? Thanks to Affiliate Faculty Kristian Coates Ulrichsen, a Middle East Ulrichsen's Dictionary of Politics in the Middle Eastexpert, students and others interested in learning more about key political figures, organizations, region-specific concepts and more can access the information online or print in “A Dictionary of Politics in the Middle East,” published in July 2018 by Oxford University Press.

About Kristian Coates-Ulrichsen
Kristian Coates Ulrichsen, Ph.D., is a Research Fellow at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, an Affiliate Professor at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington, Seattle, and an Associate Fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House).

Working across the disciplines of political science, international relations, and international political economy, his research examines the changing position of Persian Gulf states in the global order as well as the emergence of longer-term, non-military challenges to regional security. Previously, he worked as senior Gulf analyst at the Gulf Centre for Strategic Studies between 2006 and 2008 and as co-director of the Kuwait Programme on Development, Governance and Globalisation in the Gulf States at the London School of Economics (LSE) from 2008 until 2013.
