Aliya Nupbay

About
Aliya Nupbay is a current graduate student in Russia, Eastern European, and Central Asian Studies at the University of Washington. Aliya earned a BA in English Literature from University of California, Berkeley with a thesis “Emily Dickinson: The Riddler and Her Riddles” examining Emily Dickinson’s use of paradox and metaphor to articulate her relationship with nature. Aliya Nupbay has also worked extensively in the educational field, teaching English to both native speakers and foreign students at a college-level. Her current research interest is in exploring the development of Qazaq intellectualism and nationalism, particularly through Qazaq writers and literary publications of the 20th century.
