New Bonds and Old Cleavages in Post-Maidan Ukrainian Society

Mykola Riabchuk, a senior research fellow at the Institute of Political and Nationalities Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, discussed how political attitudes have shifted since the 2013-2014 Euromaidan revolution in Ukraine and the ensuing armed conflict in the Donbas. Using sociological data, Riabchuk argued that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia has changed the way many Ukrainians perceive their historical heritage and has influenced their geopolitical orientations. The lecture was hosted by the Ellison Center for Russian, East European, and Central Asian Studies at the University of Washington.
